Originally the Delray Elementary School building from 1913, the historic Cornell building on the Old School Square campus was purchased by the City of Delray Beach from the Palm Beach County School District in 1987. The building was then converted to an art and culture museum in 1990 through donations from George and Harriet Cornell. The Cornell Art Museum was later renovated in 2017 through the support of Margaret L. Blume.
The Cornell Art Museum and the entire campus of Old School Square is owned by the City of Delray Beach and operated and managed by the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority.
The museum is FREE admission; however, donations are sincerely appreciated.
